Steps are being taken to make the most of what the city has to offer, which is just one of the reasons it has gained popularity with those seeking Queensland rental property.

Inspiring an active region

Toowoomba Regional Council is heavily involved in getting people out and about to make the most of what the city’s open spaces have to offer.

A number of Healthy and Active programs have been established throughout the area in a bid to get locals enjoying the great outdoors, regardless of their age or fitness level.

“From bootcamp in the parklands and orienteering to senior fitness classes, Energise and lawn bowls, there is a program to appeal to most people,” noted environmental health, parks and recreation portfolio leader Sue Englart.

It is often community schemes such as these that attract people to an area when they are looking for somewhere to live, especially those who see their local area as a place to be enjoyed and explored.

The council also runs other events that draw in people from all over the city, including parkrun, an event that is held in Toowoomba’s Queen’s Park.

The free event sees people coming together once a week to participate in a five-kilometre run or walk, giving them the opportunity to make the most of parklands.

Participants are able to keep track of their progress by having their efforts timed each week, giving them an incentive to return time and time again.

Events such as this are likely to prove popular with residents hoping to tap into the city’s great sense of community – and find themselves new friends and hobbies while living in Toowoomba.

Creating new facilities

Another aspect of local life that property investors often take into consideration is what steps are being taken to ensure facilities are being made available to the community.

After all, a forward-thinking council is much more preferable to one that rests on its laurels, especially when it could ultimately encourage more investment into a town or city.

Toowoomba Regional Council is currently putting together a master plan and business framework for the Charlton Sports Precinct after a 43.87-hectare site was acquired.

It is hoped the facility will meet the current and future needs of the community, as well as attract interest from other parts of Queensland and beyond.

Such a large-scale project has the potential to positively impact property prices in the area, meaning that investors need to act quickly to make the most of the current market.
