REX touches down at Wellcamp Airport

REPRESENTATIVES from Regional Express Airlines (REX) visited Wellcamp Airport today to make preparations for the first flight next year. The airline was at the airport to conduct a test flight and a logistical mission.

REX is currently on a tour to visit various airports, including Wellcamp Airport, that form part of the company’s new regional routes.

A REX spokeswoman said the airline was undertaking a six-day test flight of its planned routes in western and northern Queensland.

The test flights are required for regulatory compliance and involve planes going to 16 new ports that will operate from January 1.

It will take six days in total to complete the flight routes.

REX flew from Brisbane to Toowoomba this morning and will fly to Mt Isa and Cairns in coming days.

“In order for our airline to operate those routes we need to be compliant to make sure procedures and processes that are in place work, then the aviation authority can give REX approval to operate the new routes,” the spokeswoman said.
