Social Tribes To Create New Homes

Future housing demand and how we live will be driven by 10 emerging distinct social “tribes”, says the latest Commonwealth Bank Future Home Insights Series research. The report identified 10 groups that differentiated from the old housing norm of flatting friends, newlyweds, nuclear families and empty-nesters. Technological advancements, evolving housing design, population growth, migration and changing age demographics would change the way property is built, renovated, bought and sold. The fastest-growing “tribe” would be social singles, making up a quarter of homes by 2030. Other emering groups include the “home/work” tribe, i.e. those employed on a freelance basis; and a multi-generational tribe with children, parents and grandparents living under the one roof.
